The upper is firmer, highly breathable and has a lighter heel counter for optimum cornering and comfort on the race course. To top it off, the Altra EGO midsole is a touch firmer for a little more energy return and a little less cush. Each limited edition version is inspired by a major city and only available surrounding its respective marathon.

      Altra Escalante Racer. A superb, simple and swift, speed machine

      These have been my second pair and hopefully not my last. What I love about this model is its simplicity, lightness,wide toe box, mesh upper, zero drop from heel to toe and natural feel. While carbon plates seem to be rage among runners, I prefer a more traditional race flat. They are great for most of my daily runs and I love wearing them for my tempo and sub threshold work. Although not the fastest race shoe on the market, the EGO midsole gives a surprising amount of pop and energy return. The only criticism I have is that they weren’t around 10 years ago. Otherwise great work Altra, please don’t discontinue this model

      Don't know how I could have overlooked Escalante Racers for so long

      Am a 10k and 1/2 marathon runner and gone through - and been very happy with - the Torin series for years. Was quite taken in by the Vanish C, top of my list when I now had to make a supplement, but it simply didn't feel right on the foot: the stack now gone over the top and the forward roll too much for my comfort. And it is not cheap. The Escalante became it - they are just for me: the minimalistic-ness, good ground feel, weight ... and been around for so long the price is right.

      I know the Escalante so there is nothing more about it except "good". The purchase workflow and delivery has been excellent.

      Great shoes

      These shoes have a wide toe box for my toes to spread, a zero drop toe to heel, enough padding to be comfortable and yet still lightweight. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is because for my feet I would like the toe box generosity to be on the outsides (where my little toes are) rather than the insides - There’s wasted space on the insides of my big toes. I recognise this is an issue specific to my particular foot shape though. Overall I love these shoes. Funnily enough when I’m up on my forefoot, my foot moves into the centre of the toe box anyway, so it’s not a problem when I’m running. Oh and the shoes arrived within a day or two of ordering, so thumbs up to Gone Running!

      Spacious toe box and fast response midsole, it is good for easy and tempo run. Nice ride!
