60 second Q&A with #WAATEAM's Megan Yeung
Posted on March 17 2017
She's come a long way in the past four years and knocked off her third 100km ultra trail race recently at TransLantau. Seal power!
1. Where do you live and where are you from?
A. Hong Kong
2. Why did you get into trail running?
A. In my previous life, I was a couch potato whose idea of exercise was to walk around in a shopping mall. Four years ago I was invited along on a hike and I went along. The more hiking I have done, the more I enjoyed the trails. I am motivated to find more new trails and to see how far I could go. So I started trail running!
3. Favourite race so far?
A. This is difficult, as every different race brings different memories! If I really have to choose I would say The North Face in Hong Kong. I've done the 50k twice so far. The first time, it was my first time ever into the ultra distances. I like that race because it is a very scenic route taking one through the entire North East New Territories.
4. Dream race?
A. Hard question. Can I say I want to race in different places around the world? That's my dream.
5. Best trail racing result?
A. The best is yet to come :) (But I'm happy to have completed my first solo 100k at the HK100 below 22 hours)
6. Best trail memory?
A. I'd say unique - at the Lantau 2 Peaks 2015. Running during the typhoon. Definitely not a daily event that one gets to be on top of Lantau Peak when winds are 140km/h and the trails turned into streams... and being back at the finish line in one piece.
7. Advice for beginners?
A. I know that running seems like a race with everyone else, but in the end, it's a race with yourself. Always be a better version of yourself.
8. Your favourite piece of WAA kit?
A. Ultra carrier shirt!
9. What it means to you to be part of the #WAATEAM?
A. To have the spirit of adventuring and fun out on the trails and outdoors - with friends and with style!
